Permanent magnet PIG ion sources and injectors used in RFQ accelerators

Popis: | Two kinds of PIG ion sources with permanent magnets and the injector used for radio frequency quadrupole (RFQ) are described here. The O+ and O− ion beams of 1–2 mA can be extracted from both sources and the ion ratio of both O− and O+ ions is 70%–80%. The beam lines of the injector were calculated with the program LEADS. The injector is used in our 300 kV and 1 MV integral split ring RFQ successively, and the beam transmission of the injector system is about 70%–80%. The O+ and O− ion beams were accelerated singly or simultaneously. Several hundred μA of O+ and O− ion beams after the both RFQs were measured, and the total current of O+ and O− ion beams simultaneously accelerated is much larger than that of O+ or O− ion beam accelerated singly. |
