Bacteria of the family Spirocbaetaceae have not a common structure in all genera only as believed up to now. In contrast, spirochetes have two different arrangements of the elements of motility. These two different structures involve two different types of movement of the spirochetes. These two structures with the two types of movement are proposed as new taxonomic criteria for genera Treponema or Borrelia. |
