Popis: Rats and other rodents are generally considered to be important factors in the spread of food poisoning organisms but evidence to support such a conclusion is often meager and not altogether conclusive. The difficulty in acquiring the necessary evidence, as pointed out by Staff and Grover,1 may be attributed to hazards of sampling and limitations of laboratory technic. Although it is well established that rats may harbor organisms of the Salmonella group and that these animals are often found in close proximity to human food supplies, there is sufficient question regarding the role played by them as vectors of food poisoning organisms to necessitate a study of certain phases of this problem.
