Geolocation based systems have advanced rapidly and have much to offer in terms of infrastructure information. However, most systems are unaware of road safety infrastructure. Modern smart cars have adopted real-time image processing to warn the users of oncoming regulatory information, but these systems are not reliable during poor visibility or when there are obstructions and the data gathered are not shared. This paper presents a feasible method to automate the collection and processing of road infrastructure information through machine learning and provide this information as a service that could be consumed by applications to provide traffic safety, monitor infrastructure and to plan infrastructure changes. |
