Popis:	Jonathan Spyer is a Middle East analyst, author, and journalist specializing in Israel, Lebanon, Syria, and broader issues of regional strategy. He is presently Senior Research Fellow at the Global Research in International Affairs (GLORIA) Center, and a fellow at the Middle East Forum. Dr. Spyer, who holds a PhD from the London School of Economics, is the author of The Transforming Fire: The Rise of the Israel–Islamist Conflict (2011). This article is adapted from his remarks at the annual symposium dedicated to the memory of ICFR/IJFA founder, Dr. David Kimche, held on March 27, 2013.
