Popis:	The structure and biosynthesis of the adipokinetic hormones (AKHs) are reviewed, and their storage, release, and inactivation in insect blood (hemolymph) are discussed. Since most of our knowledge on the biosynthesis of the AKHs has been obtained from locust species, these insects will serve as a general model system.
