Popis: Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a quantitative tool to bring environmental insights into decisions, supplementing consideration of cost, performance and social impact. Calculation of “carbon footprints” or other metrics derived from LCA typically requires data and information drawn from many sources, both within an organization and externally. Knowing LCA metrics for all products and companies could help society understand the most significant opportunities and trade-offs in the quest for sustainability. A barrier to this state of knowledge is the ability to create, access, manage and verify the extensive data required. New information technology and analytics can allow LCA to get closer to the ideal state, reducing the time required to do an assessment and increasing the quality of the results.
