Popis: | Selenium in erythrocytes (ESe), plasma (PSe), and urine (USe), as well as mercury in erythrocytes (EHg), were measured for 48 normal Japanese adults. No sex-related differences were found in EHg, PSe and USe, but women had higher ESe values than men. EHg was significantly correlated with PSe in the total population and in each sex, while significant correlation was found between EHg and ESe in the total population and in men. These findings suggest that dietary fish, may be a primary source of Se and Hg in the blood of normal Japanese, with a possible sex-related difference in uptake of Se into erythrocytes from plasma. |
