It is widely believed that parenting practices are transmitted over generations. However, even though the relationship between adolescents and their parents changes profoundly over the course of adolescence, previous studies have mainly looked at generation 1 (G1) parenting and/or relationship characteristics during one moment in time. Moreover, the role of G1 fathers has been largely neglected, few studies incorporated both G2 parents and nonparents and the conditions under which parenting is not transmitted are still poorly understood. |
