Popis: The Ti-6Al-4V alloy is widely used as aerospace structural material. However, the toughness is decreased by increasing strength. It has been reported that the Ti-6Al-4V alloy with coarse acicular α structure has high fracture toughness1,2, but the fracture mechanism of high toughness in coarse acicular α structure has not been fully understood. In Ti alloys, it has been reported that the nucleation, growth and coalescence of voids or microcracks at the tip of main crack influence the fracture process3,4.
