Popis: The Gel Crystallization Method (GCM; Achilles et al) has been applied up to now predominantly to the determination of relative crystal growth rates (Vcr) of calcium oxalate (CaOx) using oxalate (Ox) as the soluble component within the gel phase at a defined constant concentration. Though this principle has been useful in most applications of the method, the effect on Vcr of inhibitors at varying [Ox], and of Ox itself, could not be investigated. This paper describes the GCM for CaOx at inverse distribution of the reaction components Ca and Ox (ie with Ca within the gel).
