An analysis of the B 2Σ+ − X 2Σ+ emission of SiN. Dependence of the electronic transition moment on the SiN internuclear distance

Popis: The relative intensity of the SiN (B2Σ+ − X2Σ+) emission spectrum was analyzed. The relative value of the electronic transition moment, Re(R), was found to depend linearly on the internuclear distance, R, as Re(R) = 1 − 0.493 (12) (R/A) (1.055 ⩽ R ⩽ 1.835 A). The validity of the r-centroid approximation is discussed on the basis of the Rydberg-Klein-Rees potentials of the B2Σ+ and X 2Σ+ states of SiN. The strong R dependence, which is similar to that observed for the isovalent CN(B 2Σ+ − X 2Σ+ − X 2Σ+) transition, indicates a strong R dependence of the configuration mixing in the B 2Σ+ state of SiN.
