Popis: | The possible causes for defective caissons encountered during construction have been examined. These causes included excess water, soil inclusions, voids, change in caisson dimensions, inadequate bearing and poor concrete. Methods of exploration outlined are coring, caliper logging, inclinometer reading, side test pits, seismic wave and velocity measurement, 3-D logging, Gamma ray logging and probing for bells. Methods of correction and repair suggested include grouting, addition of steel in core holes, partial removal and replacement, complete removal and replacement and additional caissons with transfer girder. The importance of adequate inspection and safe construction procedures has been emphasized. |
