Popis: A study on 78 railway fatalities in Kerala showed that 65% of the dead bodies were found dismembered. Patterns of injuries in different types of railway fatalities were observed. The pattern of injuries seen in deaths due to suicide in upright positions matched with the deaths due to accidental train-person collision. Decapitation, without injuries to the trunk and lower limbs, was found commonly in those cases in which the suicide was accomplished by lying on the railway track. Decapitation was rare in other types of deaths.
