Previous systematic reviews have shown that intramuscular vitamin A supplementation of very low birth weight (VLBW) infants decreases the risk of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD).1 In recent years, the cost of intramuscular vitamin A therapy has increased, and observational studies have raised questions regarding its beneficial effect.
