Popis: Modeling and simulation has become an important part in textile engineering. The setup of the models mostly requires deep knowledge of the product, material, and process. Hence the choice of the modeling technique and the model parameters is different for every application. In this chapter, two case studies for modeling and simulation in textile engineering are presented. The first case study focusses on a complex textile production process, the production of nonwovens from staple fibers using the carding process. The influences of the carding parameters on the product quality are highly complex. Therefore, it is impossible to build a white-box model for the process, and a modeling technique using neural networks is chosen. The second case study focusses on a technical textile for heat protection purposes. The heat transport properties of multilayer heat protection textiles with phase changing material layer are simulated under the influence of contact heat with a simplified model.
