Isolation, purification and characterization of polyhydroxyalkanotes from green algae (Chlorella sp.)

Popis: | Unlike commercial plastic, biopolymers are made from biomass resources that are renewable. The usage of petrochemical plastics raised environmental concerns and the price of oil. A good alternative source of commercially available plastics is discovered to be the intracellular chemical Poly Hydroxy Alkonates (PHA) identified in Chlorella sp., a green algae. Chlorella sp. was isolated and Sudan black B and Nile blue A stain were used to analyze PHA. Samples from the increased biomass production were cultivated using synthetic, natural and affordable media for the sake of optimizing large-scale production. The PHA was extracted, purified and characterized by UV-visible spectrophotometry for the large-scale synthesis using inexpensive media and natural media in various concentrations such as 50%, 70% and 100%. |
