X-ray scattering from multilayers of NbCu

Popis:	The question of coherent interfaces between multilayers of sputtered Nb and Cu is addressed using x-ray scattering. It is found that the interfaces are not coherent and the NbCu multilayers are composed of columns strongly layered along the growth direction. The height of the columns is about five times the modulation wavelength ..lambda... The resistivity increases monotonically with ..lambda../sup -1/, reaching 72.6 ..mu cap omega.. cm for ..lambda.. = 18.3 A. The superconducting transition temperatures are all below 4.2 K.
