Popis: The adhesion of cells to molecules of the extracellular matrix or to other cells is basic to many biological processes, including cell growth, cell trafficking, wound healing, metastasis, formation of tissue architecture, regulation of the immune system and signal transduction. Interest in cell adhesion molecules continues to increase as new molecules are identified and their functions determined. The author discusses the binding domains of such molecules as targets for the design of therapeutic cell adhesion antagonists.
