Popis:	Most patients requiring superficial venous surgery have primary varicose veins. The site of valvular incompetence can be determined by bedside assessment, including the use of a Doppler-shift flowmeter. However when sapheno-popliteal ligation is planned, imaging of this area is necessary pre-operatively since there is great variability in the level of the sapheno-popliteal junction.
