The research results of the effect of preparation conditions, as well as of the anion and cation impurities on the spectral characteristics of $\mathbf{X}$ -ray and thermostimulated luminescence of cadmium iodide are summarized. The monomolecular type of the kinetics of the recombination process is found to predominate in the investigated crystals. The nature of the trap levels is determined by the associators of the activating impurities with the defects of the matrix. After X-ray excitation of CdI 2 :Eu crystal at 85 K the photostimulated luminescence spectrum with a maximum at 1.39 eV is represented by the superposition of elementary bands with maxima associated with the electronic $F$ -type centers at about 1.29, 1.39 and 1.53 eV. |
