Popis: Previous research has provided evidence for the existence of two processing pathways, one for the perception of object motion (based on the detection of counterchange) and the other for the perception of objectless motion (based on the detection of motion energy). Counterchange mechanisms flexibly respond to oppositely signed changes in any feature at two locations. Motion energy mechanisms are dedicated to the detection of spatiotemporal changes in luminance. Demos are provided to illustrate both kinds of motion.
