This work presents a numerical study of forced convection for a ferrofluid confined jet (water - Fe3O4) in a channel under the influence of six magnetic sources consisting of electrical conductor wires and arranged in a staggered manner outside the channel. The Buongiorno model is used to describe the flow of the ferrofluid in order to take into account the Brownian motion and thermophoresis effect. The governing equations and the associated boundary conditions are numerically solved using the finite volume method with the SIMPLE algorithm. The effects of the sources intensity expressed by the Hartmann number (Ha) and the opening ratio (R) characterizing the jet height at the inlet, on the flow structure and the heat transfer characteristics are analyzed. The results show that a low opening ratio and magnetic sources of high magnitude are the parameters of increasing the heat transfer rate. Also, it appears that at high Hartmann numbers, the Nusselt numbers on the lower Numi and upper walls Nums become insensitive to the variations of the opening ratio. |
