Progressive pseudorheumatoid skeletal dyplasia is a rare genetic disorder involving axial skeleton, as well as small peripheral joints. Overtime involvement of large joints and the spine causes significant joint contractures, spine fusion, fixed flexion deformity of hips and knees, so abnormal posturing. Ultrasonography-assisted neuraxial block is an advanced technique for use in patients with difficult spinal anatomy. Recently ultrasound imaging of the spine has emerged as a useful tool to overcome many of the shortcomings of the traditional central neuraxial blockade. |
