The paper proposes a method for determining tension anchorage lengths that involves a single, simple expression for basic development length that is a function of bar diameter, reinforcement yield stress, and concrete strength. The basic development length can be reduced when appropriate using simple factors acounting individually for casting position, bar cover and spacing, transverse reinforcement, and excess reinforcement. Lengths derived from the proposal are compared with those derived from ACI 318-83 and ACI Committee 408 expressions. |
