Popis: | 8569 Background: Metastatic retinoblastoma has a very high mortality rate in most of the cases in spite that international efforts have been made with different chemotherapy regimens. Only high doses of chemotherapy followed by steam cells rescue have proved to provide long lasting survival. The purpose of the current work is to present a preliminary report in a small number of patients. Methods: In a prospective study patients with pathological diagnosis of metastatic retinoblastoma were included, regardless of having recurrent disease or metastasis at time of diagnosis. Once the staging procedure with imaging was performed, the patients were treated with paclitaxel as a single agent at a dose of 150 mg/m2 days 1, 4 and 7 days every 21 days from 2–6 courses.
