The Transportation and Mobility Office at Vanderbilt University (TMO) introduced a daily parking program on campus for the 2020-21 school year. Working with CAH, TMO tested the most effective communication to increase the uptake of daily parking. 12,000 students, staff, faculty, and postdocs received an invitation to the program with either a control frame, a daily first frame, a daily first with environmental benefits frame, or a daily first with financial benefits frame. Initial analyses suggest all treatment conditions outperform the control, with financial benefits leading to a slightly higher percentage of signups. With the daily parking program expanding for the 2021-22 school year, members of the VU community need to re-enroll in the daily parking program. TMU is collaborating with CAH to build upon the invitation study results from last year to design and test new iterations of the daily parking invitations. We hypothesize that simplifying the comparison between daily parking and annual parking, developing a more robust financial frame, and highlighting social norms, will all lead to more participants signing up for daily parking. |
