Popis: | Literature thermodynamic values were experimentally confirmed for the Bunsen reaction producing H 2 SO 4 - and HI-rich phases. The sulfur-iodine water-splitting cycle, which uses the Bunsen reaction, has been improved by enriching the H 2 SO 4 solution to 57% in a system involving the H 2 SO 4 product and counter-current liquid I 2 flow. The system was saturated with SO 2 . The decomposition of H 2 SO 4 was investigated. Pt/SiO 2 , Pt/ZrO 2 , Pt/TiO 2 and Pt/BaSO 4 were all good catalysts for H 2 SO 4 vapor decomposition to SO 2 at high temperatures. Pt/Al 2 O 3 was found to fail due to substrate sulfation. The importance of pressure to sulfation temperature is presented. A summary of catalyst studies for H 2 SO 4 vapor decomposition compares catalyst effectiveness. |
