Popis: The chapter describes the manifold dimensions of an integrated community development process – that unfolded during the years 2016/2017 – related to the initiative of a network of nine municipalities in the Lombardy region. This network was aimed to support the recovery of high-quality, traditional food production. The various issues that stem from that initiative concern economic, social, environmental, cultural and historical memory matters, as well as new ‘bottom-up’ forms of democracy and openness to other local experiences. The various local actions, taken as a whole, allow for a wide range of reflections on the concepts of community, identity and places ‘productive choral quality’ – concepts which were adopted not as self-referential closure to the global factors, but as tools to meet the needs of local development, which are conceived as ‘universal’ ones.
