Popis: The resistance index of the fetal and uteroplacental circulation was studied in 24 patients with severe arterial hypertension, in whom it was necessary to begin antihypertensive therapy during the third trimester of pregnancy. The resistance index was measured before therapy and 1 week after therapy was begun. The patients were divided into two groups of 12. The first group received oral labetalol treatment. The second group received hydralazine and methyldopa orally. A significant increase in the resistance index in the arcuate artery was observed in both groups after a week of treatment. No significant changes were found in the umbilical artery.
