In this research, six different types of rice husk ash (RHA) were developed through various synthesis methods, in order to obtain a high concentration of silica for future applications in zeolite synthesis processes as a silicon base. The as-synthesized samples were characterized by X-ray fluorescence (XRF) to calculate the elemental composition, by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to observe the microstructure and the particle size, and by laser granulometry to determine particle size distribution. Based on these analyses, it was verified which of the obtained RHA samples present higher silica concentration and the optimal microstructure, in order to capitalize them in the proposed applications. For all RHA samples, silica concentration exceeded 85%, although, the approached synthesis routes had a high influence on the physico-chemical characteristics of the resulting powders. |
