SK 533741. Re-examination of the available evidence, and results of 14C determinations on bulked samples of charcoal from Armstrong's excavations in 1920s and 30s suggests that layers described by Armstrong as 'Mousterian and Developed Aurignacian' were in fact deposited in Late Neo/BA times. Two Beakers are of Clarke's Final Southern British (S4) type. Human bones from the same horizons indicate use of the cave for both occupation and burials.
