Popis:	SummaryWe describe a patient with obstructing recurrent carcinoma of the rectum. We have relieved the obstruction by the insertion of a self-expanding metallic stent across the stricture. This has permitted bowel preparation and elective surgical resection with primary anastomosis. The patient has been spared emergency two-stage surgery with a temporary colostomy.
