Popis: Summary Rationale The oral typhoid vaccine Ty21a has a relatively low efficacy and instructions are relatively complicated. The aim of this study is to assess the compliance with the vaccine in travellers. Method A telephone survey was carried out in a random sample of 100 travellers prescribed the vaccine. Subjects were asked predetermined questions including sociodemographic data and information related to the trip and the taking of the vaccine. Results Of the 67 subjects that could be interviewed, correct compliance was recorded in 53 (79.1%) of them. Conclusion This compliance is acceptable, however, the administration of the Vi typhoid intramuscular vaccine should be considered when the correct taking of the oral vaccine is not ensured.
