Healthy, maize dwarf mosaic virus (MDMV)-infected, and Helminthosporium maydis -infected leaves possessed similar reflectivities in the visible range (0.4–0.75 μ) but significantly different reflectivities in the near infrared range (0.8–2.60 μ). Leaves infected with MDMV but not yet showing symptoms possessed significantly lower reflectivities than healthy leaves. At sample thickness comparable to canopy densities (3 leaves or more), healthy leaves consistently possessed significantly higher reflectivities than MDMV-infected leaves which possessed significantly higher reflectivities than H. maydis -infected leaves. |
