| Popis: | A clinical study was performed on 77 patients with parotid tumors who had undergone surgery in the past five years. Benign tumors were observed in 64 patients and malignant tumors in 13 patients. The most common benign tumor was pleomorphic adenoma, followed by Warthin's tumor. Malignant lymphoma was the most common malignant tumor, followed by acinic cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. The results of preoperative fine-needle aspiration cytology were compared with postoperative pathologic findings. Sensitivity for malignancy was 33.3%, specificity was 100%, and accuracy was 76.5%. Multiple preoperative examinations were necessary to establish the correct diagnosis. |
