Popis: This chapter starts with the decline of trust found in contemporary academic literature and media. It notes how distrust became cliché in the lives of people. The coronavirus pandemic has reignited the attention on the importance of trust. Numerous policy responses to the pandemic were framed under the context of trust. Thus, the decline of trust has been identified as a fundamental threat to democracy. The dimensions of multi-level governance raised issues on building trust in line with networked governance and the varying capacity of governance to retain and build trust. The chapter highlights its research design under the context of transparency as a necessary condition to build trust.
