This paper presents a thrust ripple reduction method for a double-sided linear switched reluctance motor (LSRM). A structure of motor is back-to-back mover LSRM. The spatial arrangement of the stator is investigated in order to reduce the thrust ripple. The thrust distribution generated by a phase of the LSRM is computed by finite element method (FEM) analysis. Based on numerical results of FEM analysis, the relationship between spatial arrangement of stator and thrust ripple is calculated. In the proposed thrust ripple reduction method, it is possible to reduce the thrust ripple without decreasing in an average thrust. |
