For many small and medium-sized enterprises and small factories in Taiwan, Proportional-Integral-Derivative Controller (PID) Controller is widely used in factory equipment. This equipment is simple, stable, cheap, useful, and operating with high cost–performance all year round. For decades, these PID Controllers have been working uninterrupted on the production line for the factory automation revolution. We try to integrate the industrial internet of things and message queue telemetry transport protocol (MQTT) to establish a two-way information acquisition and remote PID controller settings to upgrade their capabilities painless. The entire PID controller upgrades to access the clouding platform which is centrally controlled and provided for top managers or decision-makers such as operators, production managers, business managers, equipment maintainers, and decision managers at any time. Mobile devices and the Internet enable the far-reaching remote setting and monitoring of the upgraded PID controllers. This study uses the microprocessor to access Wi-Fi wireless network, connect to the PID controller via RS-485 wiring and Modbus communication protocol, and then communicate with the PID controllers. Based on communication commands, the controllers retrieve the settings of the devices and the sensors with the mechanism of connecting Internet via Access Point (AP). Thus, they are upgraded to powerful wireless PID controllers. |
