Popis: | The effects of two modifications to gin-type lint-cleaners on card-room dust levels, on turbine residue in open-end spinning, and on fiber and yarn quality are reported. Special air-suction nozzles on lint-cleaners did not reduce airborne dust level in a model card room and did not affect turbine residue. An increase from 25 to 50 in lint-cleaner combing ratio reduced card-room dust level by about 11% but had no effect on turbine residue. The increase in combing ratio also slightly reduced fiber length and strength of ring-spun yarn but had little effect on quality of open-end-spun yarn. |
