Popis: Soil aging and deterioration can be enhanced due to pollutant accumulation, which can impact food security in the near future. Considering the advances in soil decontamination strategies, nanomaterials have been successfully applied in the remediation of metalloids and organic pollutants accumulated in a variety of soils. The use of nanomaterials is justified by their high reactivity and catalytic and optical properties that are made manifest by their small size and high surface area. In this panorama, this chapter discusses achievements in the use of nanomaterials in the remediation of soils contaminated with arsenic, mercury, chromium, lead, polychlorinated biphenyls, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, organic solvents, and pharmaceutical and personal care products.
