Popis: | COSMO, as a state of the art numerical weather prediction model comes into practice equipped with a large parameter set that specifies the implemented dynamical features and numerical schemes as well as the physical processes incorporated. Although the default values of this set are usually sufficient for operational use, the proper parameter tuning is practically necessary for optimum model performance over the geographical domain of application as well as the computational resources available. However, due to the large parameter number, such a tuning has to be realized over a parameter subset according to their relative sensitivity regarding the model output. The task of the estimation of this sensitivity in order to decide for such a subset was performed over the wider Mediterranean area and in reference to the total precipitation, the 2-m minimum and maximum temperatures as well as the low, medium and high cloud cover. The current operational model configuration of the Hellenic National Meteorological Service was adopted for a period of 62 dates from February, June, and December of 2013. |
