The aim of packaging equipment is to transfer a bulk food product into a defined container. This process protects the food product, while limiting microbial contamination and keeping the product features and its stability. It is therefore essential to analyze the requirements leading to the selection of the most suitable type of packaging equipment. The packaging step is a complex one which brings together different risks linked to different functions. The conditioning step cannot be considered only with the filler itself. The filler and all peripheral equipments play a role in maintaining the product features; each of them must meet the hygienic design rules. The requirements for the design described in this document should be implemented on all contributory elements of the packaging machine: packing material, tightness, product circuit, environment, cleaning, maintenance, human intervention, and automation. |
