Simple topologies like the ring oscillators (ROs) have been already created, but they truly have important applications when are used in the subthreshold operation. This work highlights the two popular inverter schemes with forward body biasing topology presented in the literature. To emphasize the use of the ultra energy-efficient subthreshold regime of the ring oscillator, power dissipation, delay, phase noise, and PVT variations have been analyzed for three ring oscillators composed of the conventional CMOS inverters, the DT-CMOS inverters, and the SBB inverters respectively. All Simulations and measurements are performed in cadence virtuoso platform using FreePDK45 process design kit with a supply voltage of 250 mV. |
