Popis: The duodenal switch (DS) procedure is associated with the highest short-term and long- term morbidity of any contemporary bariatric procedure. More than one-third of DS patients require readmission for a procedure-related complication which is 50% more than associated with the gold standard laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB). Nutritional abnormalities from malabsorption after the DS are 2.5 times more likely to occur compared with after a laparoscopic RYGB. Liver abnormalities after DS are 7 times more likely to develop than after a laparoscopic RYGB.
