Popis: | solutely small. The output power is improved by 1–5%. The second harmonic of the VCO without DGS is 16 to 25 dBm, while it was below 45 dBm with DGS. This means that DGS terminates the second harmonic perfectly. The measurements were performed with a vector network analyzer (HP 8722D). 5. CONCLUSIONS A novel DGS, connected in parallel to two periodic structures with different center frequencies of the stopband, is proposed in this paper. VCOs with and without the proposed DGS are investigated. From the measured results, the output powers of VCO with DGS are improved by 1–5%. The second harmonic of the VCO without DGS is 16 to 25 dBm, while it was below 45 dBm with DGS. Therefore, DGS terminates the second harmonic perfectly. DGS is much easier to design and fabricate than conventional PBGs. Due to its simple fabrication process and planar type, DGS can be expected to have a wide range of uses for both MIC and MMIC applications. |
