Popis: The zygomaticomaxillary complex (ZMC) is an essential anatomic and functional element of the aesthetic facial skeleton. It plays a key role in the structure, function, and aesthetic appearance of the facial skeleton. It provides normal cheek contour and separates the orbital contents from the temporal fossa and the maxillary sinus. Zygomaticomaxillary complex provides a key structural support to the orbit. Disruption in the anatomic location may result in a change in globe position resulting in enophthalmos, globe dystopia, as well as diplopia. The zygoma is the origin for the masseter and therefore affecting mastication. The bones of the ZMC create the inferior and lateral orbital socket thus potentially affecting the correct position of the globe and mobility of the extraocular muscles.
