Popis: | A gamma-ray telescope incorporating an acoustic spark chamber is described. The instrument is included in the payload of the OGO-5 spacecraft which was launched into an eccentric earth orbit on 4 March 1968. The results of preflight laboratory tests are presented and discussed. It is shown that the instrument has an angular resolution of 3° and is capable of resolving a point source of intensity 3 × 10 −6 photon/cm 2 ·sec after one month's operation in orbit. |
