Popis: | Dental X-rays are used to assist doctors to diagnose diseases in teeth and monitor the development of dental care. This research is aimed at determining health conditions using dental X-rays of teeth based on the theory of image processing. In this study, a total of 40 samples of dental X-ray images of 10 different patients were divided into two groups, namely images to which image enhancement and images without image enhancement. In each group there was a pair of photographs of healthy teeth and diseased teeth from the same patients. Improvement in the quality of the image could be achieved by adjusting the contrast and brightness. This study shows that the process of image segmentation using the Otsu method on dental X-rays can assist in identifying tooth decay by setting the threshold value of the generated Otsu result. There was a decrease in the threshold value for the images of healthy teeth compared to the images of diseased teeth under both conditions of applying image enhancement and without image enhancement. There was an influence on the threshold value for the X-ray images with image enhancement whereby the threshold value became greater than for the images without image enhancement. |
