Popis: Due to the extensive use of Internet there are many threats for the users. The threat may be any kind like hacking of the resource, entering of viruses or worms etc. Firewall is designed to protect the users from any kind of threat over the internet. Firewall may be any kind of software or hardware which prevents unusual activity. It maintains traffic over internet, which may be incoming or the outgoing. The firewall is provided with certain set of rules, using those rules firewall behave accordingly. Firewall stand act as a roadblock between trusted networks and un-trusted networks. There are certain policies in firewall using which it allows certain packets to enter and discard the rest. Thus, firewall act as a filter which restricts the entering of packets which found suspicious and not in the policy. It is not restricted to this jobs but it also used to access some remote desktop provided with some credentials. Firewall is a must to all the users especially who use internet for daily use, which makes less vulnerable. The firewall policy may be of user-defined or it can be provided by the network administrator who controls the traffic. The customized kind of policies provides a better security than the default policies. The performance and policies of the firewall are directly proportional to each other. More the policies, there will be less performance of the firewall. Balance should be made between them in order to properly utilize the functionality of the firewall.
